Authentication

What is Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI)?

A standard that displays your verified brand logo next to authenticated messages in supporting inboxes.

BIMI is an email specification that lets a domain publish a logo, supplied as an SVG Tiny PS file, in a DNS TXT record so mailbox providers can show it beside authenticated messages. It only takes effect when the domain enforces DMARC with a policy of quarantine or reject, and providers such as Gmail and Apple Mail additionally require a Verified Mark Certificate or Common Mark Certificate. BIMI does not strengthen authentication itself; it is a visual trust layer that sits on top of SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.

Why it matters for cold email

A verified logo in the inbox raises brand recognition and trust, which can lift open and reply rates on cold outreach, but it is gated on full DMARC enforcement, so chasing BIMI forces you to lock down authentication first.
