What is URIBL (Uniform Resource Identifier Block List)?
A DNS-based blocklist of domains and URLs found inside message bodies, used to filter mail that links to known-bad sites.
A URIBL, also called a DBL or domain blocklist, is queried over DNS like an RBL, but instead of listing sending IPs it lists domains and URLs that appear in the body of a message. Filters extract every link and hostname from an email and check each against lists such as Spamhaus DBL, SURBL, or URIBL.com. A single listed domain in the body can cause the whole message to be blocked regardless of the sender's IP reputation.
Why it matters for cold email
Cold emails often include links to your site, a booking page, or tracking domains, and if any of those domains gets listed your mail is filtered even from a clean IP. Using a dedicated, warmed link domain and monitoring it against URIBLs protects campaigns that otherwise have good IP and domain authentication.
