What is Dedicated IP Address?
A sending IP address used by only one sender, giving you sole ownership of its reputation.
A dedicated IP is an outbound mail IP assigned exclusively to a single sender or organization. Because no one else sends from it, its reputation reflects only your own sending behavior, for better or worse. Dedicated IPs require steady, consistent volume and a deliberate warm-up period to earn trust from mailbox providers.
Why it matters for cold email
For cold email, dedicated IPs cut both ways: you are insulated from other senders' bad behavior, but a low-volume sender struggles to produce the steady stream providers expect, and any complaints land squarely on you. Most cold senders lack the volume to justify one and are better served by a reputable shared pool or many warmed mailboxes.
