Google Workspace sending limits
Google Workspace (Gmail, paid)
| Account / daily limit | 2,000 messages sent per day and 2,000 external recipients per day per user. New/trial Workspace accounts are throttled to 500/day until the account establishes reputation. |
|---|---|
| Send rate | No published per-minute cap; the binding constraint is the rolling-24h daily quota. |
| Recipients per email | Up to 2,000 total recipients per message, but a maximum of 500 of those may be external. |
The account cap is not a cold-email volume
2,000/day is the account quota, not an inbox-safe cold volume. A warmed Workspace mailbox should cap cold sends around 30-50/day (many operators run 20-40); a brand-new mailbox/domain starts at ~5-10/day and ramps over 2-4 weeks. The cap sits ~40-60x above a safe cold volume -- scale with more mailboxes/domains, never by pushing one mailbox toward 2,000.
Good to know
- Exceeding any limit locks sending for up to 24h on a rolling window.
- Use a separate sending subdomain + SPF/DKIM/DMARC; the per-mailbox cold ceiling is reputation-bound, far below the quota.
- New-account 500/day throttle silently lifts to 2,000 once the account ages -- don't mistake the starter cap for the real limit.
Scale safely past one inbox.
Real cold-email scale comes from many inboxes each sending a safe volume, not one inbox maxing its cap. Scheduler Zero spreads sending across warmed inboxes and paces it for you.
